Why are realtors and developers allowed to serve on City Councils?

They should not be allowed to serve on City Councils because of a conflict of interest between real estate agents goals of short-term profits and the best interests of the local community, which is long-term.

Mainly when it comes to zoning and where property should be placed, the greed of each real estate agent’s market gains and loss take priority over the public community interest.

So why can’t we not allow realtors to serve city council positions to ease this frustration?

We the people like corrupt government. At all levels.

That is why we keep electing these crooks and the democrats and republicans.

Technically anyone sitting on a city council and holding a job has "conflicts of interest"

the best thing about democracy is that we get to regulate our leaders. If we as a group don’t regulate our officials, then it is our own fault.

IF you have city council members who are not looking out for the city’s best interest, you need to start a drive to replace them. You hold the power.
