A bank has taken a mortgate that at the time it was written, needed to be set at a certain interest to offset the existing RISK. So now the bank is making less money across the board (with all mortgages re-fied), yet the risk didn’t necessarily go down to the same degree, or even at all, so it could literally put the bank in a weaker position. Just because it’s a lower monthly doesn’t mean a person wants to keep paying $300K for a house that is only worth $125 or $150K! So there is still risk.

I saw local farm land in 1980 go from 300$/acre to 1500$/acre and then collapse to around 500 to 800/acre. It is once again going up to 2500 to 3500$/acre but there is NO WAY it can produce enough revenue/acre to pay for the price. The bottom will fall out of the land prices here soon and lots of the big 15 to 20 thousand acre corporate cotton farmers will go out. Production costs are sky high and cotton prices are low as are corn so farming is in big trouble…stock up on food or grow your own!

@peter schiff, if you could address this in your next vlog it would be much appreciated. considering how jimmy carter tried to implement much of what you propose (economically), during the recession of the 70′s (sound money, reduced dependance on foreign oil and allowing the market to correct itself – notable exceptions the price fixing of oil).
from most accounts his presidency is viewed as a failure (economically and overseas). how long would a market correction of the recession, take?

IMHO, banks will be making a profit on those foreclosed houses since the government (ie: taxpayers) paid for them in the bail out, meaning the banks already got their money, and now have the houses too, which they can hold before putting them back on the market for a profit, which they’ll get in the according to Schiff coming higher interest rates to balance the lower home selling prices. How do banks work? On INTEREST!

I couldn’t agree more. It’s almost funny watching CNBC. If the guest speaker isn’t towing the feel good line, it seems as though they just, cut’m off. I’ve seen that happen on at lest five occasions. The first time I noticed was when they cut Ron Paul off when he began to speak about FIAT money.
They completely blew Schiff off and David Faber has the Audacity to use his book title as wall paper on his reports, which are very good I might add. But those guys completely overlooked this.

Cramer is a carnie barker in so many ways but when he began the countdown to the turnaround or “bottom” in housing I could see through his duplicity immediately. Some cities and towns charge a fine if you have built houses that you cannot sell.

You are correct when you say there is no bottom in the housing market. I have seen videos here on youtube showing brand new homes being bulldozed to the ground.
